C2CA joins EU-Funded Project ICEBERG

Brussels, May 2020 C2CA is proud to announce another significant milestone in our development:  Inclusion in the €15M EU H2020 ICEBERG Project supported by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) under the H2020 investment program.

The construction industry remains one of the largest producers of waste globally, but this significant European initiative is driving innovation in recycling and resource recovery. Known as the ICEBERG Project H2020, this venture is emblematic of Europe's commitment to pioneering a circular economic model, particularly focusing on the recycling of end-of-life building materials.

A total of 35 public and private organisations from 10 European countries are taking part in the European Project ICEBERG (the acronym for Innovative Circular Economy Based solutions demonstrating the Efficient recovery of valuable material Resources from the Generation of representative End-of-Life building materials), funded by the European Union as part of the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Framework Programme (contract 869336). The objective of the project is to design, develop and validate innovative recycling systems and technologies, to make it possible to produce high-value recovered materials that have low levels of impurities and are safe. Validation will be carried out on an industrial scale by means of six case studies in different locations across Europe, covering the circularity of concrete, ceramics, wood, plaster, insulating foams and super-insulating materials. It also seeks to improve the reliability and acceptability of recycled materials from construction waste.

Project ICEBERG will allow C2CA to accelerate the ADR, HAS and LIBS-RFID technology development programs already underway.

The objective is clear: design, develop, and validate revolutionary recycling systems and technologies. This aligns seamlessly with the goals of Horizon 2020.
